Google's controversial plans to create the world's biggest online library have been shelved by a US judge.

Seems a pity for all of us that a US judge has written an unhappy ending for Google's online library plans.

Some authors had complained they had not given permission for books to be scanned and made available online.

Will happen eventually I am sure.

Human Mistakes...good advice

In the Sunday Times today in the Neal Ascherson article he quoted a guy who said "...As an engineer, I can tell you the root of all human mistakes. It's people putting things right, before they have finished finding out whats wrong". Quite a few disasters around the world currently where this maxim seems to apply! Libya.....Fukushima nuclear reactors .....etc.

Walk around Whitestone in the Wye Valley near Tintern

Millimeter-sized Computer Created That Can Be Implanted in Human Eye

One wonders about the implicatipns of this long term. "A computer as large as a speck of dust has been created, according to researchers at the University of Michigan. It's the prototype of a millimeter-sized computing system that can hold up to a week's worth of data and can be implanted in an area as small as the human eye.

It's been dubbed the Phoenix chip and is one cubic millimeter in size. It was originally designed to measure eye pressure in glaucoma patients. Within the computer is a low-power microprocessor, a pressure sensor, memory, a thin-film battery, a solar cell and wireless radio with an antenna to transmit data to an external reader device held near the eye."

WALK AROUND WINTOURS LEAP & THE LANCAUT PENINSULAR

Had a nice walk around Wintours Leap and the Lancaut Peninsular near Chepstow with Sian my fiance. Finished with a scramble up the 300ft "Easy Way Down" at Wintours. Basically its a climbers approach route to the climbing but is still a good scramble and bit of fun in the spring sunshine!

My 2010-2011 Fishing Season

The traditional river season closed on 14 March 2011.

I fished 72 days this season though not all all for pike, as did some tenching and carping as well.

Result was 11 x 20's to 28/4 off two different waters. with a lot of good backing fish. just got back home after 5 consecutive days piking on Chew and local rivers (had 6 doubles to 16lb).

Plan to restart piking soon.

Will hopefully do better this season (which started on Tuesday 15th March and finally get a 30lb pike as well as another river 20.
